Well, you could always start with DEATH DON'T HAVE NO MERCY from 1970's LIVE DEAD. All the concert sources for that album used to be available here. Now you can get some of it on FILLMORE WEST 1969: COMPLETE RECORDINGS. It is some of the best early live stuff you will ever hear.

Also early on, Pigpen must have made some great blues contributions. Someone help me out.

And don't forget Bobby's Chess covers from the 80s. He was playing some good slide on songs like LITTLE RED ROOSTER.
